BTW-while we were in KY for Christmas (well, post-Christmas seeing that we were snowed in up in Bklyn which got us to KY Christmas day) I arranged a date with my longtime high school friend Kathy Phy, who is a Louisville Wedding Photographer of KL PHY Photography. She's recently delved into photography and has created incredibly artful photos of weddings, babies, families, etc. Her natural talent blew me away so we had her take some family portraiture. Her way of taking pictures was so comfortable, we did not really pose for her, she was rather just taking pictures, while we hung out.

Definitely take the time to review the photos...follow the link: family lifestyle session with baby Lex of KL Phy Photography, Louisville. So when you need a photographer in the Louisville area, give Kathy a call - you wont regret it.

Happy days!

Oh my Lord! He's 14 months!

So I have been terrible with this blog. I do apologize.

Lex is going to be 14 months this week. I still can't believe how fast this year has gone and how fast the many years ahead will also go. He is a wonderful boy. Veeeeery inquisitive, kind and empathetic. He has an enormous appetite and is about a head taller than all of the other kids his age. He still sleeps quite well although we believe some more teeth are coming through because he has been having some night wakings these past few days (he still only has the 6 teeth that he got when he was around 6 months). He is walking very well but still plops onto his rear quite often. He looooves to climb so we try to take him to the playground every day to explore, swing and to slide down the slide (which is also one of his favorite things to do). He is talking a lot but it is his own language....he is able to say Mama, Dada, Up, Go and the letters X and E. It's pretty darn cute. He loves animals, he and kitty have become BFFs...he loves to kiss her and it is adorable. We took him to FL again this March and he loved being in the sand and thought the ice cold ocean was the greatest thing in the world. His laughter when the waves hit him and Gabe was not to be believed. He's a beach bum in the making!

Over Christmas we went to KY and had a great time with Mom, Dad, Arwyn and Buck. Having a little baby for the holidays....well every day...gives it an entirely new spin. Mom and Dad have continued to try and see him every few months and have succeeded thus far! They're on their way back up here this week and we're all very excited.

We try and visit his Nana (Janice) and Mr. Bob often too! He loves visiting them and on Easter she dressed up like the Easter Bunny for him. I'm not sure that he had any idea what had hit him but he certainly wasn't afraid. He loves his Nana and really loves climbing up and down her carpeted stairs!

For his first Birthday we celebrated at our apt with all of his baby friends, Nana, his Aunt Donna, Cousin Katie, his godparents and his Aunt Erika. We had a great time....rock n roll themed because the child is a dancing fool!

I'm sure there are many other wonderful milestones that I haven't listed but this is a good summary. We can't believe how much we love him and every day brings more laughter and excitement.

6 months going on 7!

Our little bean ain't so little anymore! He's eating solid foods, moving around the floor at high speeds (not quite crawling but very close to it), laughing out loud ALL the time, and still as giant as ever. He'll be 7 months old on the 13th...unbelievable. It has been a wonderful 7 months and we love him more and more every day. He brings us such joy and appreciation for life and we miss him when he naps or when we're out on dates.

He took his first flight to FL in August. On his 6 month bday he took his first swim and took to it like the Aquarius that he is. We also got him baptized while we were there and he had quite an audience to witness it: Granny and Grampa, Jesse, Rick, Myra, the boys, Melissa, Aaron, Nancy, Buck and even Jason! Nancy brought the family's Christening gown that has been used for centuries. My great grandfather wore it and every generation since has worn it as well (including me!) so Lex was able to join the crew. He looked like a beautiful doll and we were honored to have the dress be part of the ceremony. He was baptized by Father Sorvillo, who is also baptized Gabe, his bro, and several Doran cousins. It turned out being a magical little event! Then we all went back to our condo by the sea and had a fun brunch to celebrate!

We started him on solid foods about a week before we went to FL...mainly just rice cereal at first. Now he's enjoying pureed peas, zucchini, yellow squash and sweet potatoes! We're making it all on our own and it actually tastes pretty good! (thanks Jillian and Melissa for the great babyfood cook books).

He's more alert every day and really looks more like a 14 month old than a 7 monther. He has discovered his love for swings so Gabe and I take him to the Promenade in Bklyn Heights almost every day so he can laugh and feel the wind on his face! I sometimes think it's more fun for Mom and Dad than it is for him! ;)

He's talking up a storm...lots of Da Da Das and Ma Ma Mas but he doesn't really know what that means. We just keep saying it so he's picked up on it and enjoys the sound. He also loves Sesame Street....I really wanted to avoid TV but sometimes we simply need it! So he's watched a little Sesame St and it makes him smile. And it gives us a tiny break.

I think that's really it. Obviously there has been lots of activity but too much to list. It's all good and wonderful and we love the little Lexman. He's a dream!

too long!

I'm sorry that we've been MIA for so long! Lex is coming up on 6 months and he's just growing like a weed! We love him dearly and couldn't ask for a more perfect little bean. He sleeps well, is very social, loves to laugh, seems to be incredibly inquisitive, has grown 2 teeth, began his journey into solid foods yesterday, and is a huge hit amongst family and friends. He even got to meet his two cousins, Julianna and Joshua, last month in addition to meeting Auntie Arwyn, Uncle Sue and Harold, Cousin Rick and his family and of course Auntie Dawn and Uncle Andy.
I need to go to bed now but will do a more detailed piece later. I will leave you with a few fantastic pics of the worm.
Thanks for everyone's support!

Almost 4 months!!!

Wow....he's growing like a weed. He's really 3 months and 3 weeks and he is the size of an 8 month old. It's hilarious! But he's healthy and happy and the apple of our eyes. We still can't wait for him to wake up for morning play time. Going into his room to find him staring up at us w/a huge smile makes us melt! One of our favorite things.

He's really into chewing and grabbing these days. He's also begun to audibly laugh, which is the BEST! His sleeping has been heavenly and we're enjoying it while it lasts. There have been a few nights when he slept 14 hours!! I MEAN!?!? But I know this will change as he grows so we're just loving the sleep now.

We're taking him to Fire Island next week and I'm looking forward to having him in the sea and sand. Well, probably not the sea because it'll be FREEZING, but at least he'll get to see it. We rented a house w/a bunch of friends. Dia is bringing her 1 1/2 year old, Maurice, so Lex will have a playmate.

We love him wildly and are enjoying every step of this adventure.

8 weeks old!

It's unbelievable that he's 8 weeks! Time has flown by and every day has been filled with new discoveries. He recently began smiling and laughing and it has been such a treat! Just as amazing as everyone said it was going to be.

He's still growing...abnormally large but in a good way. He has almost outgrown all of his clothes that are 3 mos or less. His 6 mo. attire is a little big but we mostly have to dress him in those! It's very funny. Last night we went to dinner w/his new friend, Jaxson, who is 3 1/2 weeks old (Jayce and Tiffany Bartok's little doll) and Lex dwarfed him. Jaxson is around 9 lbs now (maybe more...can't remember) but he was so light that it made me uncomfortable for me to hold him! My son was NEVER that small so it was a foreign feeling to me. He's sooo cute! I'm glad that Lex is gonna have a buddy so close in age.

Tomorrow is Lex's first Easter and we are going to the Nolfi's for a delicious dinner. Lex has a huge crush on Auntie Sonia so he's really looking forward to it.

Enjoy the new pics! I know we do!

the Hulk

We had Lex's 6 week check-up yesterday. He's very healthy....and very large. He's literally off the charts...over the 97th percentile for both weight and height. He's 13 lb 9 oz and 26 inches long....wow. His reflexes are good, he's very alert and he's really started to lock eyes with us and other objects (see picture w/him staring at Gabe). He's even starting to smile!!! and we looooove that. Unfortunately he's still having digestion problems which causes him to have really bad days....sometime screaming bloody murder which is horrifying for mom and dad. It's terrible not being able to fix it. So we're waiting until he's 8 weeks old to begin further testing because most children w/this problem tend to grow out of it by then. Let's pray that he does!!!
Enjoy the new pics.
